Warangal: The sight of a tiger triggered fear among residents of Orri Narsayyapally village in Nallabelli Mandal district on Saturday.

According to reports, a woman spotted a tiger in a cornfield and alerted villagers. Farmers left the fields after hearing about the presence of a tiger.

Forest officials and police arrived at the village and launched a search operation. Traces of two tigers were found in Warangal and Mahabubabad districts on Friday.

A team of officers, led by Forest Range Officer (FRO) Narsampet Ravi Kiran, detected the tiger’s pug marks on Friday in Kondapuram and Rudraudem villages of Nallabelli mandal.

A farmer from Rudragudem village, who went to the chilli field to spray insecticide in the morning, noticed the tiger pug marks and informed the forest authorities.

Based on the pug’s markings, it was identified that a 10-year-old male tiger had headed towards Rudragudem, Ravi Kiran said.

Forest Department officials said on Friday that a tiger came from Tadwai forests of Mulugu district to Kondapuram forests of Kothaguda mandal of Mahabubabad district.

Officials said the tiger had moved from the fields to the forest area in suburban Kondapuram.

They installed CCTV cameras at various places to trace his movement from Kondapuram forests to Otai, Rampur and Karnagandi forests.

Forest officials believe that the tiger had come to the outskirts of Rudragudem, a plain area, in search of a suitable habitat.
