The Vusu Raiders Rugby League team have expressed their disappointment following a violent brawl outside a Suva nightclub last night involving several of their players.

Former team manager Akuila Masi condemned the incident, pointing out that the individuals responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons – the nightclub’s bouncers – were seen in a disturbing video hitting players with bars and chairs .

Masi told FBC News that the team traveled to Suva for their annual awards night and visited the nightclub for a few drinks.

“After a year of playing rugby we usually have our awards night to reward our players, so we don’t expect the bouncers to react that way as it’s their responsibility. We will therefore look into the matter and allow the police to continue their investigation. We just don’t want anyone to file a lawsuit, but if there are medical bills, they need to be held responsible.

Following the fight, seven players were hospitalized.

Masi confirmed that the team is awaiting the results of the police investigation before deciding on further action regarding the incident.

The incident has raised concerns about security at nightclubs and the conduct of security personnel, and the Vusu Raiders are calling for a thorough investigation to ensure accountability.

Trade Minister Manoa Kamikamica told FBC News that he does not tolerate this type of behavior and will intervene if the need arises.
