Drake said his ‘final path’ to fame was linked to Chris Brown and Rihanna

Drake said his ‘final path’ to fame was linked to Chris Brown and Rihanna

In the early 2010s, Drake and Chris Brown were feuding with Rihanna. When Brown and Rihanna broke up after he assaulted her, she was linked to Drake. Eventually, however, Brown and Rihanna got together, albeit briefly. Drake said he didn’t like any association with the couple.

Drake found it embarrassing that he and Chris Brown were competing for Rihanna’s attention.

In 2009, Brown and Rihanna broke up after he assaulted her. They met in 2012 for several months. Drake began feuding with Brown during this time. The couple even got into a physical altercation at a New York nightclub.

“I hear he’s got everything he could want right now,” Drake told GQ, referring to Brown and Rihanna’s reunion, adding, “I don’t want my name to be synonymous with that of This guy really doesn’t.

He said he would have liked to talk with Brown, but he didn’t think that was a possibility.

“I wish we could sit down, just like you and I are right now, and talk about it man to man. But that’s not going to happen,” he said. “I’m not confrontational, but if anyone challenges, I won’t back down.”

He added that he found the confrontation embarrassing, but would remain at odds with Brown.

“It’s embarrassing, the amount of media coverage,” he said. “Two rappers are fighting over the woman. He’s not even a rapper, but that’s still the last way you want your name out there. It distracts from the music. But he made me his enemy, and it’ll stay that way, I guess.

Drake once said he felt ‘used’ by Rihanna

Before his feud with Brown, Drake took several photos of Rihanna. He said he felt like she used him after she split from Brown.

“I was a pawn,” Drake told the New York Times (via Billboard). “Do you know what she did to me? She was doing exactly what I have done to so many women throughout my life, which is to offer them quality time and then disappear. I was like, “Wow, this is terrible. »

He later walked back his comments, saying he didn’t mean to be “negative.”

“I’m in one of the greatest places of my life: I’m on top of the world,” he told MTV News. “I’m extremely confident, so it’s very rare that someone, let alone a woman I love, makes me nervous or makes me feel small.”

He said he considered Rihanna a “shattering and incredible person.”

Chris Brown said they moved past their feud

Years later, Brown denied fighting with Drake at the nightclub.

“It wasn’t even between me and him to be real, we weren’t close to each other when shit happened,” he said on Drinking champions (via Revolt), adding, “It was just a whole bunch of extra hustle, on God.” There was never a “Hey bro, meet me outside.” It was never like that. It was just a misunderstanding on both sides.

They ended their quarrel. Brown even appeared on stage with Drake during his 2020 tour.

“I think a few years have passed. He actually had a show here, he brought me to the show,” he said. “A lot of us have mutual friends, so, ‘Hey, bro, they want to crash, they want to talk.’ So when I called, it was cool… I’m glad we got past that because it was a moment where I wanted to kill you an a**, but we got past it.
