The incident, which occurred on Saturday, December 28, took a dangerous turn when a tear gas bomb was thrown a few meters from Gachagua, forcing him and other leaders to flee to safety.

In a video that quickly circulated on social media, the moment of the disturbance was captured in shocking detail.

As Methu stood on the podium, a sudden explosion of tear gas sent the crowd into a frenzy, with leaders rushing to safety as thick smoke billowed onto the red carpet.

Nation reports that the tear gas canister was thrown by an individual in civilian clothes sitting in the second row of the tent, narrowly missing Gachagua.

Quick-thinking bodyguards intercepted the canister while aides protected the former vice president and escorted him to his car.

Despite the chaos, Senator Methu remained calm, continuing to stand while bagging the podium as smoke enveloped the area.

Gachagua breaks silence after chaos in Nyandarua

Earlier, Gachagua issued a statement following the chaos that erupted at the event he attended in Nyandarua.

Gachagua accused the police of deliberately throwing a tear gas canister toward the VIP stage to cause disorder.

The chaos came weeks after thugs disrupted a funeral service attended by Gachagua in Limuru.
