Nyandarua – Former Vice President Rigathi Gachagua once again found himself in the middle of chaos, this time during an interfaith prayer service and thanksgiving ceremony for Shamata MCA Gitau Njamba, held in the constituency of Ndaragwa.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday, December 28, took a dangerous turn when a tear gas bomb was thrown a few meters from Gachagua, forcing him and other leaders to flee to safety.

Chaos erupted as Nyandarua senator John Methu finished his speech, leading to several injuries and a tense atmosphere.

Nation reports that the tear gas canister was thrown by an individual in civilian clothes sitting in the second row of the tent, narrowly missing Gachagua.

Gachagua accused the police of deliberately throwing a tear gas canister toward the VIP stage to cause disorder.

The chaos came weeks after thugs disrupted a funeral service attended by Gachagua in Limuru.
