How Kate Middleton’s past birthdays were ‘overshadowed’ by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

After a difficult year marked by cancer and chemotherapy treatments, Kate Middleton is looking forward to her next birthday in view of her health problems. Although this optimism comes from the fact that she is in better health since completing chemotherapy, a royal expert also revealed that the Princess of Wales’ past birthdays were linked to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s drama with the royal family.

“This birthday will be memorable in so many ways – it will mark the start of a hopefully happier new year, and the end of a year that has been brutal for the whole family,” said royal correspondent Jennie Bond. Every day must now be extremely precious to the princess, and every birthday must be cause for grateful celebration.

Bond explained that some of Middleton’s previous birthdays had complications, saying the special occasions were “overshadowed by events: Harry and Meghan announcing they were stepping back from royal duties on January 8, 2020, and then Harry publishing his book , SpareJanuary 10, 2023.”

Middleton’s birthday last year, while separate from the royal family’s tumultuous relationship with Harry and Markle, saw the start of her health complications. “This time last year, the Princess must have been anxious – and probably in pain – as she prepared for her planned abdominal operation which took place just days after her 42nd birthday,” Bond continued. “This, of course, was followed by the shock of his cancer diagnosis, so this will be the perfect opportunity to celebrate.

As for what the princess’s birthday plans will include this year, Bond says it’s very likely the celebration will be held closely and only with family. “For her husband and children, it will be an excuse to spoil her rotten,” speculated the royal expert. “I imagine they will shower her with gifts, perhaps a collection of pampering products like luxurious bath oils and fabulously scented candles. Maybe (Prince) William will buy her some silk pajamas or cashmere sweaters, soft clothes for skin bruised by surgery and treatments.

William might even step up the romance too: “even though he says he’s not a very good cook, Catherine told Mary Berry that he was pretty good at breakfast, so maybe a tray with a rose will arrive early.”
