NEW DELHI: All India Imams Association Mohd leader Sajed Rashid on Monday said he would meet AAP leader and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal to press for the release of pending salaries for imams.

Speaking to ANI, Rashidi expressed frustration over the continued delay in the release of imams’ salaries by the Delhi Government. Rashidi said they had not received their salaries for the past 17 months and had met several government officials and leaders several times, but no action had been taken on the matter.

Rashidi issued an ultimatum to the Delhi government, saying that if their salaries are not sanctioned soon, the imams will continue to protest until they receive their dues.
“It has been 17 months and our salaries have not been paid. We have been trying to raise this issue for the last 6 months. We have met the CM, LG and various senior and junior officers. That is why we are gathered here today If they don’t respond now, we will participate in a protest here and will not leave until we receive our salaries,” Rashidi said.
He also mentioned that they met Delhi Chief Minister Atishi to seek a solution, but no resolution was found.
“For the past six months, we have been constantly looking for a solution. We have met them more than 50 times but have not received any response. It has been 20 days since we met CM Atishi, and she assured us that the issue will be resolved. resolved in 4-5 days, but nothing happened,” he added.
Mohammad Ibrahim, an imam from Paharganj, expressed his frustration, saying: “I am an imam in a mosque in Paharganj, New Delhi. We have not received our salaries for 17 months. This week marks our third visit to meet Arvind Kejriwal. Imam Rashidi has been trying to meet him for six months. We are all worried because 17 months is a long time. We came here to request the leader of the ruling party to release our pending salaries.
Mohammad Murtaza, an imam of a mosque in Chandni Chowk, added: “The problem is that we have not received our salaries for the last 17 months. Only the Waqf Board knows the reason. We continue to fill our duties diligently.”
