FORT NELSON, British Columbia — Northern Rockies RCMP announced a major drug and firearms seizure, as well as several arrests, following a week-long investigation in Fort Nelson.

The Cariboo-Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit (CC-CRU) conducted the investigation from November 4 to 10 with assistance from Northern District MIS (ND MIS) and Northern Rockies RCMP.

During this week, the three law enforcement groups executed seven search warrants at properties across the city.

RCMP say four people have been arrested and released as a result of the ongoing investigation.

“Charge approval will be sought for the individuals responsible for causing so much harm to our communities,” said CC-CRU Officer Nathan Smith.

Items seized include 2.6 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine, 2.5 kilograms of suspected cocaine, 1.75 kilograms of marijuana, 400 grams of suspected crack cocaine, five firearms, 150 cartons of illicit cigarettes and $10,000 in cash.

“The RCMP is committed to fighting organized crime in every community across Canada. These significant seizures will help disrupt drug trafficking in the Fort Nelson area,” said Agent Smith.

RCMP say more information will be released as it becomes available.
