The BNP, other political parties and citizens from all walks of life have ousted the autocrat, he said at a rally in Nilphamari through video conferencing.

Seeking the blessings of the people, Tarique expressed his hope to return to the country very soon.

Tarique was addressing the gathering at a madrasa in Nilphamari Sadar upazila while handing over a new house to the family of Golam Rabbani, who was killed in “crossfire” with Rab members in 2014.

The BNP number two said there could be differences of opinion between the public and the political parties. “But we must exercise caution so that this difference of opinion does not reach a point that could harm the country as well as its people.”

“We must be careful not to create a situation in which the natural desires of the people of the country will be hindered,” he said, adding: “We must remain vigilant and aware of this.”

The BNP leader said democratic methods are followed in developed countries while forming governments.

“To move Bangladesh forward in the coming days, it is essential to restore the democratic system. Whether it is union, municipal, upazila or parliamentary elections, Bangladesh must restore the electoral process.”

Tarique added that collective opinions will help develop the country.

“Everyone will express their opinion. But in the end, we will build the country based on the opinion held by most people.”

Tarique stressed that elections are essential for the overall development of the country, as they help put in place competent leaders.

He stressed the importance of maintaining an electoral process, saying: “This electoral process must be maintained consistently, year after year, generation after generation, at all costs. Only then will capable leaders emerge from the people, who will work comprehensively for the welfare of the nation. »

“If we can stay united and committed, we will be able to move the country forward. There is a lot of work to be done. We need to increase agricultural production, dig canals, reform the existing education system and create opportunities for employment for unemployed youth.

The BNP leader described the people as the party’s greatest strength. “The BNP wants to stand with the people. Whenever it has had the opportunity in the past, it has tried to stand with them.”

Tarique acknowledged the party’s past flaws, saying: “Maybe we have not always managed to achieve 100 percent for various reasons, but we have never abandoned the people. The source of all our power, it “is the people.”

He also shared his vision of a government that prioritizes the welfare of the people.

“We want to form a government that will actively address the grievances and concerns of the people. To establish such a government, everyone, regardless of party or opinion, must come forward.”

Tarique also claimed that the autocrat’s associates are still hiding in various parts of the country and trying to hatch plots against the country.
