Taking strict note of the delay in disbursement of salaries to outsourced employees, Municipal Corporation Commissioner (MC) Amit Kumar on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to a private contractor supplying manpower to the civic body.

The notice was issued to M/s Innovision Limited, a labor supplier, for non-compliance with the terms and conditions of the contract and for non-compliance with instructions for payment of salary advance for the festival “Diwali” to outsourced workers. The company supplies around 700 workers to the civic body, most of whom are sanitation workers (safai karamcharis), cattle herders, data entry operators and others.

Since the delay in disbursement of salaries constitutes a breach of contract with MC, the contractor has been asked to provide an explanation within seven days or risk being blacklisted.

The notice further sought to explain why the agency should not be blacklisted under the provisions of the UT Administrative Policy, 2009 and in accordance with the provisions of the agreement, due to violation of terms and conditions.

It is pertinent to mention that the employees had also raised the issue of delayed salaries a few days before Diwali.
