Airoli school student evacuated after electrical fault causes fire

Navi Mumbai: There was panic at Nouvel Horizon Public School in Sector 19, Airoli, after fire smoke started escaping from the electricity meter cabin following a minor explosion in the transformer. A crow perched on the transformer cable, causing a short circuit in the electric meter room Wednesday morning during school hours. The school management immediately evacuated all students from the school building as a preventative safety measure.
Sandesh Channe, sub-firefighter at Airoli fire station, said, “Around 9:15 am, we received an emergency call from the school staff informing us of a minor explosion in the transformer after a crow perched on the transformer cable and was electrocuted. Upon the explosion, there was a short circuit in the power supply cable connecting the electric meter room to the school premises, which resulted in fire smoke emanating from the electric meter room. As our fire and rescue team headed towards the school building, we had to intervene. a few minutes later we received another call from the school informing us that the situation was under control as the power supply had been cut off after the explosion and there was no fire. Our team nevertheless arrived on site and ensured that there was no further fire. of smoke and there was no major damage to the electric meter room. Additionally, all students and staff at the school were safe, as they all immediately left the school building.
