Construction production in the euro zone falls by 0.1%

BRUSSELS/FRANKFURT/PARIS (dpa-AFX) – Construction production in the euro zone fell slightly in September, according to Eurostat data published on Wednesday.

Construction production fell 0.1 percent month-on-month after remaining stable in August.

The overall contraction in production is mainly due to a 0.8% decline in building construction and a 0.4% decline in specialized construction activities. On the other hand, civil engineering activity recorded an increase of 1.4%.

The annual decline in production in the construction sector eased to 1.6 percent from 2.5 percent.

Construction production in the EU also fell slightly by 0.1 percent month-on-month and 2.0 percent year-on-year.

The largest monthly declines in construction production were recorded in Czechia, Slovakia and the Netherlands. The highest increases were observed in Romania, Italy, Spain and Slovenia.
