After Shoebite, they came together again for Piku, a film that has become cult over the years. Recalling the first day of shooting, Shoojit says, “I cherish my memory with Mr. Bachchan on the first day of shooting. I choked up saying “action” to him. I keep telling this story to my friends. I remember the time when he came to Kolkata for the shooting of Yaarana. I was a little schoolboy of 12 or 13 years old. The whole of Kolkata was dancing and buzzing at the news of the shooting at the Netaji Indoor Stadium. »

The Sardar Udham and October maker adds, “He is like our jamai babu (brother-in-law). Like everyone else, I always considered him a superstar and never thought I would get to meet him one day, let alone direct! When he was in front of me on the first day on the sets of Piku, those old memories came back before my eyes. I was also very nervous because I didn’t know what was coming next.”
