The City and CUPE ratify a three-year collective agreement

The City says the retroactive increase for 2024 was already planned in this year’s budget.

“The union and management negotiating teams worked collaboratively to negotiate mutually beneficial conditions, guaranteeing job stability and continued quality for residents,” reads a press release from the City.

“This agreement provides fair treatment for our staff and is consistent with recent agreements reached in other cities across the province,” said City Manager Walter Babicz. “I would like to thank both negotiating teams for working together over the past year to reach an agreement that balances inflationary needs while supporting a strong workforce that we can count on to meet the growing demand from residents for City services.

The City employs more than 600 workers represented by CUPE.
