Guilty – Man hit victim with mobility scooter and left her with broken arm in crash in Shrewsbury

Alan Briscoe, 62, collided with his victim near Havana nightclub in Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury on August 1, 2022.

The jury at Shrewsbury Crown Court was out for around an hour before returning with a unanimous verdict of guilty to a charge of assault and battery.

Earlier in the trial, CCTV footage was shown in court of the victim, Mr Robert Taylor, entering the street outside Abbey Hardware at around 10.20pm.

The mobility scooter then appears to make contact with Mr Taylor, who falls, before getting back up holding his arm and stumbling.

Testimony from witness Christopher Lee described Mr Taylor as having a fracture which “protruded from the skin and retracted”, leaving behind a hole the size of a 5 or 10 pence coin.
