A carer has been removed from the register following allegations she lied about visiting vulnerable service users..

Amelia Boal allegedly recorded and left visits outside of people’s homes remotely to make it appear like she was providing care.

Baillieston Community Care support worker was supposed to provide personal care, domestic support and friendly support to a person with Alzheimer’s, but was found to have failed to turn up at his home as planned.

Boal also lied about how much time she spent visiting.

The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) estimates that Boal’s actions impacted ten service users.

She allegedly failed to attend scheduled care appointments for a woman with Alzheimer’s disease for four months.

An SSSC report concluded she had exposed the vulnerable person “to a risk of harm by not receiving the care and support to which they were entitled”, including help with meal preparation, prompts to take medications, catheter care and wellness checks. .

Boal admitted to failing to attend on one occasion and expressed “deep regret” for her actions, but it turned out that she had not shown insight or remorse regarding other incidents presumed.

An SSSC report concluded: “Your behavior was deliberate, repeated and, in the context of working alone, adds to the risk of repetition.

“Through your actions, you misled your employer for a significant period of time, as they had no reason not to believe that you were fulfilling your role or the accuracy of your records on the Access People Planner app.

“Such dishonest behavior raises concerns about your underlying values ​​and your suitability for employment subject to registration. »
