Most young girls can only dream of becoming an actress on their favorite television networks, but it was a reality for Keke Palmer.

Now 31, Keke reveals all about working in Hollywood as a teenager and how she became a millionaire at just 12 years old.

Speaking on the Club Shay Sahy podcast, Keke, who got her first acting role at age 11, reveals why she doesn’t regret sharing her salary with her family.

She revealed that at one point she was paid £31,000 ($40,000) for filming a single episode of the Nickelodeon series True Jackson VP – the same as her parents’ annual salary.

“My parents, at the best of their ability, made $40,000 a year growing up, I made a spectacle of it,” she said.

Keke revealed that her parents gave her an allowance using her salary, as well as that of her older sister.

Although there was much debate over who should manage the salaries of working children, Keke had no qualms about how her money was distributed among family members.

The actor continued: “We are family and everyone has sacrificed for me to be where I am.

“My father gave up his pension, he worked in the company where he had worked for more than 15 years.

“I gave up his pension so I could follow my dreams.

“My mother, they gave up everything. She gave up everything to be able to travel with me.

“So what I feel is that what’s mine is theirs. What’s theirs is mine.”

I dropped out of school at 13 and lived in a homeless shelter where I suffered a miscarriage during my teenage pregnancy. Today, at 23, I make six figures.

Keke also spoke about how, from a young age, it was up to her to provide for the family – something she was fully aware of even as a child.

She said: “It’s just one of those things where I feel like I could be sad, but why?

“Look what I’ve gained. I’ve gained more than I’ve sacrificed.”

The podcast clip shared on TikTok (@clubshayshaypod) went viral with over 4.9 million views and 839,000 likes.
