Homeowner seeks advice after witnessing neighbor’s disturbing behavior on his property: ‘And even more threats’

A homeowner asked other Reddit users for advice after saying his neighbor entered his property, cut down his plants and made threats.

In the r/BadNeighbors subreddit, the homeowner explained in a post that the neighbor “came into my yard this morning and cut them down at the stem. With verbal abuse and other threats saying ‘I’m taking them out people”, etc. ”

They said the unruly neighbor claimed the plants were on an easement that was not part of the poster’s property.

After such a disturbing experience, they wondered how to remedy the situation.

“Call the police, he is entering the property and damaging private property. Film him if you can for proof,” one commenter suggested.

However, the OP said they unfortunately don’t have video evidence to document the cut plants, but other commenters said installing cameras around their house should do the trick.

Neighborhood conflicts are more common than you think and it is not always easy to resolve them.

For example, one homeowner discovered that someone had cut down 10 to 12 trees on his property without his permission, and another said his trespassing neighbor had destroyed his allotment garden. In the first case, the author of the felling of trees was never identified, and in the second case, the neighbor denied having mowed down the plants.

If you find yourself in a difficult situation with a neighbor, installing cameras around your house is probably the best solution since they can’t deny anything with visual proof.

You should also have your property inspected to find out the boundaries of your house and call the police if necessary, especially if the neighbor is threatening you.

Some commenters suggested filing a restraining order against the neighbor to ensure that he or she cannot return to the property without being arrested.

Basically, any situation like this calls for decency and basic respect between neighbors. If there is a disagreement, it is better to talk about it calmly rather than taking rash actions that could have lasting repercussions (like a prison sentence, for example).
