Chelsea view Nicolas Jackson as one of the top three strikers in the Premier League, according to reports.

The Blues paid Villarreal £32million in the summer of 2023 for Jackson and the striker has impressed in his debut Premier League campaign.

Jackson scored 17 goals in all competitions, including 14 in the league and was rewarded with a two-year contract extension keeping him at the club until 2033.

Chelsea consider Jackson one of the three best strikers in the league.

Much has been made of the fact that Chelsea failed to sign a striker this summer, with the Blues pursuing Victor Osimhen for the majority of the window, but they failed to secure a deal for the Nigerian.

However, Jackson’s start to the season has shown that this may not be a bad thing and the Senegal international has six goals and three assists in 11 games so far this campaign.

Martin Keown has described the 23-year-old as one of the most feared strikers in the league, and he has become a key player for Enzo Maresca, with Jackson starting every Premier League game this season.

Darren Bent believes the Senegalese is perfect for the way Chelsea look to play under Maresca and he is currently keeping the more established Christopher Nkunku out of the team.

Chelsea clearly believe in Jackson and The Athletic reported that the Blues view Jackson as one of the three best strikers in the league, which, when you think about it, is hard to argue with.

Jackson has shown signs of improvement under Maresca, particularly with his finishing and it will be interesting to see how he develops over the rest of the campaign, but things are looking positive.

He is likely to start in Saturday’s game against Leicester, but with matches coming in quick succession in the run-up to Christmas, expect some rotation with Nkunku.
