“‘Some people were a little nervous’ about Sydney Sweeney’s viral SNL monologue”. Why she ‘liked’ to make fun of her celebrity status

During the first days of TV schedule 2024Sydney Sweeney hosted an episode of SNL 49th season. This concert happened exactly like his movie Immaculate was released and followed a successful, but rumor-filled, year. So in her monologue on the sketch show, she decided to approach all of this in a way that made some people “a little nervous.” However, she “loved” making fun of her celebrity status.

Sydney Sweeney was part of Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue, and during her interview she was asked about Saturday evening live. During her monologue, she addressed a ton of headlines written about her over the past year, and I have to imagine that’s distressing. Turns out it was for those around him. However, she was there for everything, as she explained:

I loved it. In fact, I had to put in a lot of effort. Some people were a little nervous, but in real life I’d like to say I’m a funny person. And sometimes I wish I could address more things with my “Syd” self, but I find that with social media there is such a gap in how things are communicated. It’s difficult to get things across the way you want them to be: they can be misinterpreted. So being able to do it on stage like Syd, I loved it. I felt like I was taking back power.
