The Selene nightclub is a tribute to hedonism

New London nightspot, Selene, will channel ancient Greece through several themed spaces, including a hidden bowling alley and a members-only aperitif bar. Olivia Palamountain reports

Selene, a soon-to-open nightclub in London’s West End, promises to ignite ancient Greek hedonism at the historic Mappin House this November.

Named after the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene will take guests on a “sensory journey from the moment they arrive,” leading them through multiple rooms, each with its own decor and character.

The first will host nightly performances inspired by Greek mythology, while the second venue, Helios, will focus on house music in a Greek garden. The third space, reserved for members, will serve Greek-Italian aperitifs from 9 p.m. and will serve as an afterparty.

A hidden VIP room, accessible through secret passages, will house a hidden bowling alley for private events and lucky clubbers chosen from the crowd to try their luck on the lanes. The design of the venue incorporates Greek mythology, with velvet curtains, chandeliers and endless corridors created through strategic lighting and mirrors. The color palette combines bold reds, blues and greens with gold accents, while bathrooms feature deep blue tiled walls and shell-shaped sinks.Selene will be located on the former site of the Mappin and Webb jeweler building dating from 1906, marking a new chapter in the evolution of the historic venue.
