Agra: A local court in Mainpuri district sentenced a father and son to life imprisonment for the murder of their neighbor following an argument about their dog defecating near his home. The fast-track court of Justice Bhule Ram also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on each convict.
The incident took place on March 27, 2016, in Kisani police station area, when Ramesh Chandra, 50, of Katra village, had an argument with his neighbors, Jugesh alias Lalla and his father Chandrabhan ( 55 years old) regarding their pet dog defecating near his home. They had an altercation which turned fatal when Jugesh shot Ramesh with a gun.
Ramesh succumbed to his injuries during treatment. A case was registered under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC after the deceased’s son Shiv Om lodged a police complaint.
“My father had just returned from his morning walk when he objected to Jugesh making their dog defecate near our door. After an argument over this, Chandrabhan instigated Jugesh to shoot my father. Jugesh then pulled out a gun and shot him. Hearing the noise, my siblings and I tried to intervene, but Jugesh’s mother released the dog, which bit my sister Bhavna, and the duo fled.
After an eight-year trial, the court found Chandrabhan and Jugesh guilty of murder and sentenced them to life imprisonment. “Both the accused were sent to jail on Saturday,” said Manoj Kumar Verma, another government advisor in the district.
