The MP assures – The Sangai Express

IMPHAL, Nov 14: Harvesting activities in vulnerable areas of Lamlai Assembly constituency will be carried out under the protection of state forces, MP Khongbantabam Ibomcha has said.
He said this today while inspecting harvesting activities in Thamnapokpi, Sanasabi, Sabungkhok Khunou and Shanti Khongbal.
In recent days, Kuki militants have fired on farmers in Sanasabi, Thamnapokpi, Sabungkhok Khunou and Shanti Khongbal. To thwart such attacks in future, farmers harvesting paddy will be provided security till the end of the season, the MP assured.
He said the fields in the valley region will be guarded by the state forces while those in the hills will be guarded by the BSF and the Indian Army.
He further informed that the duration of the harvest will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Urging farmers not to panic and harvest their crops safely, he said, the government is taking strict measures to prevent any future attacks on farmers and civilians in the area.
He called on people to refrain from spreading rumors that could cause panic and chaos among the public.
