Eknath Shinde elected Shiv Sena legislature party leader after massive victory | Bombay News

Mumbai: Eknath Shinde was elected on Sunday leader of the parliamentary party of the Shiv Sena. Sena MLAs met at a hotel in Bandra and unanimously passed a resolution electing Shinde as the party’s leader in the Legislative Assembly. The resolution was moved by MP Uday Samant.
Shinde credited Ladki Bahin and other projects like “shashan aaplya dari” (government at your doorstep) for Mahayutiand said the government had benefitted the scheme to 2.39 crore women and the ‘shasahn aaplya daari’ scheme to over 5 crore people. Sena MPs also passed a resolution congratulating the party on the victory. During the meeting, several Sena MPs raised slogans introducing Shinde as the next CM. Many MPs said that since the elections were held under Shinde as CM, he should continue in the post.
Earlier on Sunday evening, Shinde said that Ladki Bahin Scheme was a great success and that the opposition MVA was swept away by the wave created by Ladki Bahin. Shinde was congratulated by women voters in Varsha, the CM’s official residence, for his massive victory in the assembly elections. While the Sena won 57 seats, four independent MLAs have so far extended their support to the Sena.
“It is thanks to women voters that we got so many seats. The opposition does not even have enough seats to have an opposition leader. They have been cleaned out. Women voted in such large numbers that there was a wave. This miracle was achieved because of Ladki Bahin,” said CM Shinde.
Sena functionaries said CM Shinde would likely submit his resignation to the governor on Monday or Tuesday and then continue as caretaker CM until the new CM and the cabinet are sworn in. “BJP will also elect its party leader in Parliament. BJP observers will come for this process. Then there will be a meeting with BJP top brass and once the power sharing formula is fixed, the new government will take oath .So till then Shinde can continue as caretaker CM It is the convention and resignation of the CM before the formation of a new government is a formality,” said a Sena functionary. Sena MP Deepak Kesarkar said the inauguration ceremony of the new government is likely to take place at the Wankhede Stadium.
