Terrified families flee burning plane to emergency slides after it catches fire as it lands at resort

This is the terrifying moment an occupied plane is seen in flames after landing, sending passengers fleeing for their lives down emergency slides.

There was panic and chaos on board as the cabin quickly filled with black smoke and those on board began to “suffocate”.

The stricken plane landed at Antalya airport in Türkiye before the flames began to swirl from the flaming kerosene that had spilled onto the runway.

The 95 passengers and crew members frantically rushed to exit points as emergency evacuation slides were ordered, fearing the Sukhoi Superjet 100 plane would explode.

A report says the wing clipped the runway as the Russian Azimuth Airlines plane battled high winds overnight.

A heroic passenger reportedly broke down a door after crew struggled to open it as smoke began to fill the plane.

Miraculously, all 95 people on board escaped unharmed.

One of the survivors, a TikTok Influencer Evgeniya Lavrinenko said: “There was panic in the cabin, people started jumping, trying to get their bags, putting them in the aisle.

“And then a violent flash in all the windows showed that the fire had caught fire.”

“There was smoke behind the plane, then someone shouted that there were escape slides at the back of the plane – run back.

“We ran back, and there was even more smoke, we started to suffocate.

“I yelled at my child to cover her face with a cloth so she could breathe and we went down this slide.

“My daughter was first, I followed her shouting all around us. It was very scary.

“My daughter was crying, everyone was crying, but luckily everyone survived. »

The airliner had taken off from Sochi, Russia, a few hours earlier, the Turkish Transport Ministry said in a statement.

Two loud impact sounds were heard as the plane landed with 87 passengers and six crew members on board.

The pilot issued an emergency call at 9:34 p.m. local time (18:34 GMT), as several fires began to break out.

The airline said the plane suffered a “difficult landing” due to wind.

Those on board rushed away from the burning wreckage, fearing it could explode at any moment.

They then had to wait hours to collect their luggage, with some passengers claiming to have lost their belongings, including passportsin the escape.

Footage shows fire crews working to put out flames that engulfed the lower half of the plane and left it without burn marks.

The plane is said to be so badly damaged that it is impossible to repair, according to the Telegram channel VChK-OGPU.
