The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) announced on Monday that it had made modifications to the clauses of stages 3 and 4 of the Graduated Response Action Plan (Grap) concerning schools, allowing them to operate in mode hybrid, instead of just online courses. The CAQM said it had taken note of the concerns raised by schools and the Supreme Court, adding that it was not possible for all schools to operate online.

The CAQM held a meeting late Monday evening, following a hearing earlier in the day before the Supreme Court, which asked the pollution body to consider easing restrictions on physical classes in schools, colleges and educational institutions in Delhi-NCR.

The CAQM also said it was noted that not all primary schools in Delhi and other parts of the NCR had the capacity or access to conduct classes only in online mode. “Students of Classes These students are required to take classes in physical mode considering practical classes as well as practical exams. Besides, students are also required to undertake additional lectures or tutorials for the board exams,” he adds.

The CAQM on Wednesday issued an order revising the clauses of GRAP in Stages 3 and 4 to make it mandatory to close physical classes in schools in Delhi and neighboring NCR districts of Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddh Nagar in steps 3. and 4.
