Meet a Man, Cousin of a Superstar, Who Left Bollywood Forever After Directing Two Hit Films

Bollywood has seen the birth of many stars. Some of them became stars overnight, while others left Bollywood silently after appearing in hit films. Today we are talking about one such actor who has worked behind films like Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak and Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar. At the peak of his career, this actor left Bollywood forever and now resides in the Coonoor Hills of Tamil Nadu. Can you guess which actor we are talking about?

Bollywood was never his first choice, now he is a full-time farmer and works at…

This actor is Aamir Khan’s cousin. Still, I couldn’t guess which actor we were talking about. It is none other than Masoor Khan. Currently, Mansoor is settled in the beautiful hills of Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. Many may not know that Mansoor’s ambition was to set up a cheese shop and farm stay once he parted ways with the film industry.

From cinema to agriculture, Mansoor Khan’s journey

For those who don’t know, Mansoor Khan was born into a family with a deep understanding of cinema. His father was renowned filmmaker Nasir Hussain and his cousin, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan, was one of the best-known names in the film industry. They played an important role in Mansoor’s life. Despite the rise of his film career, Mansoor’s inner thoughts made him believe that he was made for a different purpose. He thought his vocation was not for cinema and that he had a different path.

In a conversation with YouTube channel India Now and How, Mansoor Khan revealed his early life. “What most people don’t understand, because they know me as a successful filmmaker, is how I was able to leave all the fame and money behind. But long before that, when I was in the United States in 1978, I already knew that I did not want to live in Bombay.”

How did Mansoor Khan end up on farms?

During the interview, Mansoor revealed how he ended up getting into cheese making once he left Bollywood. He said: “It’s not something that happened suddenly. It was a predetermined plan. The only question was when I could escape. I consider myself lucky because so many young people come to my farm and ask me how I could do this in a place without medical facilities… I told them that they do not have to move to Coonoor; I just didn’t want to be in the city. It’s paradise, but even an open field is enough for me.

For Mansoor, Bollywood was never the first choice, leaving the film industry was never a difficult decision for Mansoor, as he was not interested in making films in the first place. Mansoor added, “I am a very good convincer… She used to make cakes there and she had a business with Aamir’s first wife Reena. She said to me, “You’re getting me out of here when I found my calling in life,” and she asked me what she would do here. I said to him, “See, you make really good cakes, but everyone and their aunts and uncles make cakes here, so you have to do something different.” »

This is how Mansoor and his wife Tina began their journey into cheese production. However, Mansoor ensured that his wife was happy in Coonoor, otherwise he would not consider moving into the business for years. Although Mansoor works as a farmer, he also works as a non-fiction writer. He would choose both of those options over sitting around and talking about movies. Mansoor said, “I don’t want to talk about my films, what nonsense. Why is this important? What does it matter that I made a film that makes people cry and laugh when all the birds and rivers are dead? Why is this important? It is a chauvinistic point of view to give such importance to literature, art and cinema.
