Jennifer Garner Just Shared the Easiest Focaccia Recipe and Ina Garten Said She’ll Make It ASAP

“It’s delicious and a hit.”

If you’re considering baking bread as a hobby, focaccia is a great place to start. Its preparation requires minimal ingredients and active time, and Jennifer Garner has just shared a classic recipe that is both simple and delicious.

“This recipe is a gift to your future self,” Garner shared on her Instagram in a recent episode of her show Pretend Cooking. Fresh bread promises delicious leftovers, and focaccia is no exception. Here’s how the actor makes focaccia that only needs 4 ingredients, plus salt, water and oil.

In a bowl, Garner adds 4 cups all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons yeast and 2 teaspoons salt before whisking. She then incorporates 2 cups of lukewarm water and forms the dough. Coating the dough with olive oil, Garner covers the dough and puts it in the refrigerator so it can rise overnight.

The next morning, the actor uncovers the dough, drizzles it with olive oil and covers it, leaving it to rest in the refrigerator for another full day. This step is optional because Alexandra Stafford’s recipe that she follows calls for a waiting period of 12 hours or up to three days. Anyway, once the dough is ready to use, she brings it to room temperature and lets it rest in the 9×13 pan she plans to bake it in. Once set, Garner sprinkles fresh rosemary leaves on top of the dough.

“You can use dried herbs, and if your kids don’t like herbs, you don’t have to use them at all,” she suggests. With a pinch of flaky sea salt and another drizzle of olive oil, Garner puts the focaccia dough in the oven and lets it cook for 25 to 30 minutes. When the focaccia is golden brown, she lets it cool for 10 minutes before cutting it and serving it.
