Football Experts’ Picks for Week 14

Football Experts’ Picks for Week 14

The football rivalry between Florida and Florida State has been intense in recent years. Can the Seminoles go on and end a terrible season with a memorable moment?

FSU has won the last two editions of the rivalry, but at 2-9, this year’s team is among the worst in the country. Coach Mike Norvell ended its six-game losing streak with a mercifully dominant 41-7 victory over FCS opponent Charleston Southern last week. Freshman quarterback Luke Kromenhoek impressed in his first start, throwing for 209 yards and three touchdowns while adding 31 yards on eight carries.

Florida started out just as poorly, but after back-to-back losses to LSU and Ole Miss, the Gators (6-5) are one of the hottest teams in college football. Their star freshman quarterback, DJ Lagway, passed for 406 yards and three touchdowns during UF’s two-game winning streak. Additionally, Billy Napier knocked down several FSU recruits, the latest being four-star running back Byron Louis.

Can FSU close out the season on a high note? Or does Florida head into its bowl game with a good sense of the future? Here’s what college football experts are predicting, along with the odds for the game:

J.D. McCarthy writes: “The Florida Gators are playing extremely well right now and are coming off a top 10 win over Ole Miss, eliminating them from the playoffs. They are arguably the hottest team in the country and have a star in DJ Lagway at quarterback. “FSU is home and that will help, but it has a chance to get ugly.”

Cameron Ross writes: “Both teams started the season horribly, but Florida turned things around. Expect the Gators to keep rolling this week as they overwhelm one of the worst teams in the country. Ask It’s up to Florida to get the job done as they pick up the win and cover on the road against one of their biggest rivals this week.
