MasterChef Australia star Shannon Bennett comes under fire for the way he makes scrambled eggs in a $400 Le Creuset pan

MasterChef Australia star Shannon Bennett has been roasted online after sharing a shock clip on social media of the unconventional way he prepares scrambled eggs.

The celebrity chef, 48, posted the images on Instagram, which show him enthusiastically preparing the dish in his expensive $400 Le Creuset pan.

However, Shannon told fans he wouldn’t do it the conventional way with “water, milk and cream”, which he said would “dilute the eggs”.

“It’s just eggs beaten with a little butter and salt. That’s it,” Shannon told his followers, as he got to work preparing the breakfast staple.

He then cracked some raw eggs into a pan and began whisking them before pouring in olive oil and letting the recipe simmer.

The culinary expert grabbed his expensive Le Creuset pan and poured the heated eggs into it, then quickly scraped them out with a spatula before happily telling his fans the food was ready.

“It’s pretty simple to make scrambled eggs. Keep it simple,” Shannon wrote in the caption.

Shannon’s fans were quickly whipped into a frenzy over her unusual way of preparing the dish and took to the comments section to roast it.

“I think you’re a great chef but I’m old school, eggs, cream, butter, butter and more butter lol,” one fan joked.

“I love my scrambled eggs with butter and cream,” a second person wrote.

“Would Gordon Ramsay approve?” » asked a third user.

Shannon, who shares six children with ex-partner Madeleine West, began his new relationship with Erica over the Christmas holidays.

He spoke about his new romance with Erica, who is the ex-wife of businessman James Packer, to the Herald Sun in March.

“Erica is awesome,” Shannon told the publication.

“She’s really good, she comes and goes a lot. It’s a fun and amazing adventure, it’s amazing we haven’t met sooner. We love life. I am a very lucky man,” he added.
