PHOTOS: Cash, drugs and vehicles seized in CAB raids targeting criminal group

Nearly two dozen high-powered vehicles and a significant amount of cash have been seized during a major police operation targeting members of a Dublin-based criminal gang.

The members of the Criminal Assets Office (CAB) carried out the search operation at several locations in west Dublin as part of ongoing investigations into individuals linked to the organized crime group.

Confirming details of the operation, Gardai say the group is involved in the trafficking of controlled drugs in the Western Division of the DMR.

“CAB officers were assisted by gardaí from DMR West, the Emergency Response Unit, the Armed Support Unit, the Stolen Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit and the Dog Unit customs,” said a spokesperson who added that the The operation involved 130 people carrying out searches in 14 different locations.

In total, 23 vehicles were seized as well as €400,000 in cash. A number of accounts with different financial institutions have been frozen.

Gardai say a suspected quantity of herbal cannabis, electronic devices and various documents were also seized during the operation. marks a significant development in the CAB’s ongoing proceeds of crime investigation.

No arrests were made during Wednesday’s operation.
