The NBA is gearing up for its annual Thanksgiving sabbatical with a massive 14-game slate that gives us one of the season’s most prolific player pools to work with. There are plenty of intriguing plays across the pay scale, setting us up for a terrific night of building and sweating the DFS lineup!

As usual, we’ll highlight several advantageous position comparisons to exploit at each position for your Yahoo Fantasy lineups, as well as a good trio of candidates that may be best avoided due to ‘a combination of circumstances/salary.

Guards

LaMelo Ball, CHA vs. MIA ($45): Ball’s ceiling has been extraordinary as of late, with the talented guard scoring 56.7 to 70 Yahoo points in his last three games. Ball has scored between 35 and 50 actual points during that stretch while making an incredible 31.7 shots per game, and he’ll now face a Heat team that had to travel after a wire-to-wire game against the Bucks on Tuesday evening. Miami has been quite effective against point guards, but has still allowed 50.3 Yahoo points per game to the position over the last seven games.

Russell Westbrook, DEN to UTA ($21): Westbrook is a second-unit player these days, but that doesn’t stop him from occasionally dropping back to provide a nice return on his investment. Wednesday’s game against the defensively inept Jazz could very well lose one of those efforts, as Utah cedes an NBA-co-high 28.7 offensive efficiency rating to the point guards, as well as the eighth highest (44.6) at the second unit. players. For his part, Westbrook has scored between 38.9 and 49 Yahoo points in three of his last four games, and he has three more goals north of 30 Yahoo points this season while averaging 25 minutes per game.

ALSO CONSIDER: Donovan Mitchell, CLE vs. ATL ($45); Scotty Pippen Jr., MEM vs. DET ($22)

Guard to avoid

Dejounte Murray, NOP vs. TOR ($42): Murray is expected to return on Wednesday for the first time since fracture your left handbut he is expected to have some sort of minutes restriction. As such, this salary essentially makes him unplayable, given that he would have a very difficult time justifying it, regardless of his talent. Murray may well justify that type of investment soon, but rolling the dice on him in his first game is needlessly risky on a roster with so many options.

Attackers

Franz Wagner, ENT vs. CHI ($39): Wagner was very effective while supporting additional usage in the extended absence of Paolo Banchero (oblique), posting a 31.2% usage rate and averaging 49.2 Yahoo points per 36 minutes with his teammate off the field. Wagner has scored between 49.7 and 69.7 Yahoo points in just his last three games, and he also has four games between 46.6 and 62.2 Yahoo points in his last eight games. In other words, his salary is probably still too low for his current cap hit, and a game against a Bulls team that’s on its second straight night giving up the second-most points per game (123.1 ) might help. Wagner delivers another excellent comeback.

PJ Washington, DAL vs. NYK ($25): Washington is another player enjoying a notable absence from his team, as the versatile big man has been very productive during Luka Dončić’s absence. Washington has scored 40-44.1 Yahoo points in its last three games with Dončić out due to his wrist injury, and five games ago when Luka also sat out due to dealing with a knee injury , Washington went for 52.4 Yahoo points against the Thunder. Therefore, he could provide a salary return of up to 2x on Wednesday with Dončić still out, and the Knicks record by giving up 48.4% shooting to power forwards, as well as 43.6 Yahoo points per game for the position. season.

ALSO CONSIDER: Scottie Barnes, TOR vs. NOP ($42)

Move forward to avoid

Tobias Harris, DET at MEM ($30): Harris has injury and performance issues attached to him on Wednesday. Despite the fact that Cade Cunningham’s absence is expected to extend into a third game on Wednesday, Harris doesn’t have added appeal given that he only scored 17.5 and 21.6 Yahoo points in the first two games missed by his talented teammate. Additionally, a left hip impingement that could have contributed to Harris shooting just 31.6 percent in those contests lists him as questionable for Wednesday, further encouraging the Avoid label.

Centers

Jarrett Allen, CLE vs. ATL ($33): Allen brings an intriguing point-per-dollar fantasy consideration to his salary in this matchup. As further proof, considering the big man has scored between 38.2 and 53.5 Yahoo Points in four of his last five games, reaching 43 Yahoo Points or more in three of those contests overall. That’s the kind of upside Allen brings to his salary, and the Hawks could facilitate similar results considering they’ve allowed 55.3 Yahoo points per game to centers over the last seven games and the fourth most high number of points in the paint per game over the last three. (56.3), an area of the court where just under 80% of Allen’s scoring comes from.

Ivica Zubac, BAC at WAS ($28): Zubac has been the bedrock of the Clippers’ offense on both ends of the court all season in the continued absence of Kawhi Leonard (knee) and the current absence of Norman Powell (hamstring). Powell could remain out on Wednesday and Zubac confirms he has scored between 33 and 42.4 Yahoo points over the last six games. The big man is averaging career highs in points (15.6), rebounds (12.4) and even assists (2.5), and he’s once again averaging over a block per match (1.1). The Wizards have allowed the second-highest offensive efficiency rating to centers (37.9), the third-most Yahoo points per game over the last seven (62.1) and an NBA-high 58, 8 rebounds per game at home, improving Zubac’s prospects. even further.

ALSO CONSIDER: Isaiah Hartenstein, OKC at GSW ($24); Moritz Wagner, ENT vs. CHI ($20)

Center to avoid

Onyeka Okongwu, ATL at CLE ($21): Okongwu has certainly shown himself capable of providing excellent returns on modest salaries, but he enters Wednesday’s tough game already stuck in a funk. The backup center has scored just 12.4 to 20.9 Yahoo points in his last four games, shooting just 38.7 percent during that stretch while putting together single-digit totals in each. The Cavs are far from an opponent that could help break this skid, yielding the fourth-lowest offensive efficiency rating to centers (27.4), as well as the fewest Yahoo points per game and the fourth-fewest rebounds per game (13.3) at centers. position as well.
