Which artists does the Spotify Wrapped teaser pay homage to?

Which artists does the Spotify Wrapped teaser pay homage to?

Spotify released a logo redesign inspired by the biggest artists of 2024 – Twitter is perplexed

The leaves are orange and the climate is positively Baltic outside, which means Spotify Wrapped is just around the corner. In preparation for the annual event, which, let’s face it, should be a national holiday, Spotify presented this year’s most popular albums with custom artist-inspired logos.

Spotify has already stopped counting your streams in preparation for its Wrapped event, so you only have a short time to wait before the Glee cast is confirmed to be your top performer for the third year in a row. No shame, we’ve all been there.

The music streaming platform has yet to confirm an official release date, but given that it’s already marketing its release on Twitter, it’s safe to assume that it’s just around the corner. In the meantime, see if you agree with the theories surrounding the Wrapped puzzle.

1. It’s obviously Sabrina Carpenter

This one is perhaps the simplest of the bunch and clearly points to Sabrina Carpenter’s espresso. She’s had a busy 2024, with the release of hit single Espresso followed by her album Short n’ Sweet with tracks like Please Please Please, Good Graces and Taste – which you’re no doubt singing along to now thanks to a little-known phenomenon . called the Sabrina Carpenter effect.

2. Chappell Roan, the best dog of 2024

We haven’t seen a meteoric rise to fame like Chappell Roan’s since Billie Eilish, although it’s not surprising with tracks like Pink Pony Club, Femininomenon and Red Wine Supernova. She’s also amassed a cult following thanks to her unwavering approach to fame.

Although her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is due out in 2023, it’s almost guaranteed to be featured prominently in this year’s Spotify Wrapped.

3. Beyoncé?!?

Hot on the heels of her 2022 Renaissance success, Beyonce released her take on country music, Cowboy Carter, in March 2024. The Spotify Wrapped teaser seemingly pays homage to the album with the belt buckle design and gold plating, after all, what other color do you give to the gold standard of the music industry?

Some have suggested that this could be a reference to Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine, but I don’t see it.

4. There is no doubt about Charli XCX

After months of seeing this iconic green color on everything from merchandise to Kamala Harris’ US presidential campaign, there’s no way to mistake it for anything other than an homage to Charli XCX’s Brat. Although songs like 360, Apple and Von Dutch are staples of this year’s Spotify Wrapped, some Twitter users said their inclusion ruined the aesthetic of the post.

“She’s this messy girl who wants to be different so bad,” one person said, while another echoed, “The kid looks like a normal Spotify logo but reversed.”

5. Leather studs and spikes at Don Toliver

This one really left Twitter perplexed, but the prevailing theory seems to be Don Toliver’s 2024 album, Hardstone Psycho. They feature a similar aesthetic with the black leather and studs and definitely fit his style of music.

6. This one lacks a bit of flavor, it must be Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift dominated the 2024 music scene with the release of The Tortured Poets Department, and although some said it lacked the emotional punch like previous albums, she was still going to be featured on Spotify Wrapped’s promotional materials like the one of the most remarkable musicians in the world. planet.

Yet they visibly lacked creativity on this design, which coincidentally matches the album itself.

7. Megan Thee Stallion was inside a snake

Another easy one. Megan Thee Stallion’s self-titled album was released in June with 16 tracks and collaborations with Victoria Monét, GloRilla and UGK. The Spotify Wrapped teaser hints at her 2023 track Cobra where, in the video, she crawls from inside a snake.

8. Blue tones and bubbles suggest Billie Eilish

This one had me scratching my head for a while, after all it could point to Katy Perry’s drowning career or Ariana Grande struggling to get some air between her busy schedule. However, Twitter and I think it was Billie Eilish’s Hit Me Hard and Soft that featured her falling into the ocean, hence the bubbles.

9. Olivia Rodrigo’s signature color is purple

Much like Charli XCX, Olivia Rodrigo has done such a brilliant job at marketing that this specific shade of purple is now instantly associated with her. She also had a wild ride in 2024, performing tracks from her album Guts 2023 around the world.
