Chicken Inn, Pizza Inn and Galitos add 402 more jobs as part of expansion

How many employees has Simba Brands hired?

Of the 15 stores launched in the financial year ending June 2024, six were Chicken Inn and Pizza Inn, while two were Galitos outlets.

In its 2024 annual report, the company indicated that it had recruited 2,995 employees during the period under review, compared to 2,593 employees the previous year.

The Zimbabwean fast food operator plans to open nine outlets in the country in 2025.

“In fiscal 2025, we plan to expand our presence by opening 25 new counters in Zimbabwe, nine in Kenya and two in Eswatini,” the report said.

“In addition, we will upgrade our existing network by renovating and upgrading our old stores…36 counters are planned for upgrade, including 27 in Zimbabwe, six in Kenya and three in Eswatini.”

How many jobs were created in Kenya in 2023?

More than 800,000 Kenyans were employed in the year ending December 2023.

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) Economic Survey Report 2024 showed that 848,200 new jobs were generated during the same period under review.

The key sectors that recorded growth were modern and informal industries, with the exception of small-scale farmers.

New jobs created in the modern sector increased by 4.1% to 122,800, while the number of self-employed jobs increased from 168,100 in 2022 to 172,400 in 2023.

In the informal sector, 720,900 new jobs were created, or 85% of all new jobs created in 2023.

How many employees has G4S laid off?

Separately, G4S Kenya announced a layoff that will affect around 400 workers, citing difficult economic conditions.

The leading security and messaging services company said the job cuts would take effect from November 4, 2024 to April 2025.

The dismissal will likely affect employees in various G4S Kenya offices across the country, working in both management and union membership categories.
