Rohini’s Venkateshwar Global School in Delhi receives bomb threat via email – India News

A private school in Delhi’s Rohini district received a bomb threat email on Friday, a day after a low-intensity blast occurred near Prashant Vihar. The threat was later ruled a hoax after a thorough search of the school, PTI reports.

Venkateshwar Global School (VGS), located about a kilometer from the site of Thursday’s blast, was alerted to the email at 10:57 a.m., according to Delhi Fire officials. A team of firefighters, along with police, a bomb disposal team and a dog squad, carried out a search of the school premises but found no suspicious objects.

“The situation is well under control. There is no need to panic,” the school said in a message to parents, urging them to collect their children before 11 a.m.

Dr Namita Singhal, principal of the school, confirmed that the bomb threat was sent to the school’s official email address. “After receiving the email, we dispersed all students and staff,” she said.

The police have opened an investigation into the incident.

In another case, the Delhi Police registered an FIR in connection with the low-intensity explosion that occurred near a cinema hall in Rohini. The blast, which took place almost 40 days after another blast at a CRPF school in the same area, injured one person and caused panic among residents.

A case has been registered under several sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 326(g) (mischief having serious consequences for public safety), Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Property Act public and Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act. . Police are investigating the involvement of unidentified people in planting the explosive material.
