A day after a low-intensity blast in Delhi’s Prashant Vihar area of ​​Rohini, a nearby private school received a bomb threat via email on Friday, PTI reported.

Delhi Fire Brigade officials said the bomb threat was revealed to be a hoax after a thorough search of the school premises.

A call from Delhi Police was received about a bomb threat around 10:57 am at Venkateshwar Global School (VGS). The school is located less than a kilometer from the site of Thursday’s explosion.

An officer said a team from Delhi Fire Service (DFS) immediately reached the school. DFS officials, along with the police, bomb squad and dog squad checked and searched the entire school premises.

The parents of the students were informed of the situation and asked to collect their wards before 11 a.m. “The situation is under control. There is no need to panic,” read a message from the school sent to parents.

VGS principal Dr Namita Singhal said the threatening email was received on the school’s official ID card.

Meanwhile, Rani Awasthi, mother of a Grade 8 student at the school, said: “We are deeply concerned about the current situation in the city. How can we trust the safety of our children?

Awasthi expressed her concerns over the bomb blast that took place in Prashant Vihar the previous day, adding that she went blank as soon as she received information about the bomb scare against the school in his daughter.

The mother said she would now experience constant fear even after sending her child to school, stressing that she could not suspend her studies.

An official said police had launched an investigation into the bomb threat.

Meanwhile, in connection with the blast that took place near a cinema hall in Rohini, the Delhi Police has registered an FIR, officials said.

Police said the explosion occurred in a scooter, adding that white powder was recovered near the site. The incident triggered panic among residents and people nearby.

A case under Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) Section 326 (g) (mischief with serious consequences for public safety) and Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property and Protection Act Section 3 of the Explosive Substances Act was registered with the Prashant Vihar police. station in connection with Thursday’s explosion.

Police said the case has been registered against unknown persons and efforts are on to arrest and arrest the accused who threw or planted the explosive material at the site.
