Saugeen Shores police ratify four-year agreements

Members of the Saugeen Shore Police Association have ratified new uniform and civil collective agreements. The duration of both agreements is from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2027 (four years).

Annual or hourly salary increase percentages for uniformed police officers, special agents, and prison guards are effective as shown.

January 1, 2024 – 4.5%
January 1, 2025 – 4.5%
January 1, 2026 – 3.5%
January 1, 2027 – 3.5%

Civilian Support Services staff will receive a $5,000 salary increase retroactive to January 1, 2024, then match the percentage increases noted above starting January 1, 2025.

Salary improvements were influenced by the changing nature of policing in Saugeen Shores and the requirements of the new Community Safety and Policing Act (effective April 1, 2024), in addition to rates salary of provincial and regional police services. in recognition of the physical and mental health supports that are important to members of the police service.

Saugeen Shores Police Association President Sergeant Ken Cook says, “I commend the Saugeen Shores Police Services Board for entering into these negotiations with a true understanding of the current policing environment in Ontario. These negotiations were long and addressed several important points for both parties. The Police Association appreciates the professionalism and efforts demonstrated by the Commission throughout the process.
