A good party appetizer should pack several different flavors and textures into one bite. That’s probably why our candied bacon crackers are so popular. And also because they are made from only four ingredients. This is the kind of recipe you can pull out of your pocket when surprise guests drop by or if you’re throwing a party and you’re short on food.

Candied Bacon Crackers Recipe

What are candied bacon crackers?

In a nutshell, these are buttery crackers (like Club or Ritz) topped with strips of bacon brushed with maple syrup and seasoned with black pepper. So every bite is sweet, salty, spicy, smoky, chewy and crunchy. With only four ingredients! The recipe makes enough for eight servings, but they will be devoured immediately, so it’s a good idea to make an extra or two if you’re serving a crowd.

The one and only kitchen equipment you will ever need

We promise these crackers are a breeze to make, but you’ll need one specific kitchen tool: an oven-safe rack that can fit snugly inside a baking sheet. This helps the bacon drippings drain while the crackers cook, preventing them from becoming soggy. This also prevents the crackers from sticking to the foil-lined pan and breaking.

Ways to Customize the Recipe

Instead of maple syrup, add a spicy touch with warm honey or pepper jelly. Or sprinkle with a little cayenne pepper instead of black pepper. Zesty marmalade (instead of maple syrup) would also pair well with the smoked bacon.
