The iconic Chelsea nightclub that hosted Prince Harry is set to reopen

“151 or ‘Bargs?” The timeless debate that dominated the conversations of Schöffel-wearing 18-year-old Chelsea residents in 2016.

Considered a nightclub oasis in the heart of South West London by royals and socialites, Chelsea’s iconic 151 nightclub is set to reopen its doors in the new year.

Famous for welcoming the likes of Prince Harry through its purple doors back in the day (in the 2000s), the prestigious center closed its doors after Cadogan Estates refused to renew the lease following the pandemic. However, the club is set to bounce back under the leadership of Guy Ritchie’s best man, Piers Adam, who hopes to relaunch the venue in February 2025.

Attracting Chelsea’s glamorous set was the club’s forte. George Michael was turned away from the club, while familiar faces such as Prince Edward, Prince William, James Hewitt and socialite Tara Palmer-Tomkinson were spotted living under its roof.

The 151’s guest list expanded to include stars such as Bob Geldof, who chose the club to celebrate his 50th anniversary. Prince Harry had a close encounter with the paparazzi while enjoying a night out at the haunt, escaping down the fire escape to avoid the wave of flashing cameras wanting to capture his presence at the King’s Road hotspot.

Founded by Giorgio Burlo, the club was particularly popular with young Chelsea residents, notably the cast of Made in Chelsea (who filmed on location several times.) Actors Binky Felstead and Ollie Locke were photographed in 151, wearing quintessential 2010s uniforms with towering wedge heels and a little too much eyeliner.

Although the exact date of the club’s reopening has not yet been announced, there is no doubt that its return will be an important moment in London’s social calendar. So mark your calendars and prepare for a Jaeger bomb or two, because 151 is back.
