Maharashtra Congress issues show cause notice to Bunty Shelke over ‘RSS agent”s remarks on Nana Patole | News from India

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Congress issued a show cause notice in Hrishikesh aka Bunty Shelkeparty candidate for Nagpur Central Assembly constituency, for his remarks accusing state president Nana Patole of being an “RSS agent”.
The notice, issued on Saturday, asked Shelke to provide a written explanation within two days as to why he should not be suspended for allegedly defaming the Congress party and Patole. Shelke’s comments, made after a meeting of Congressional candidates on November 28, 2024, raised concerns within the party.
Shelke, who recently lost to BJP’s Pravin Datke in the assembly elections, publicly blamed Patole for his defeat, alleging sabotage and lack of support from the party. Speaking to the media, Shelke said, “Patole should be removed from the Congress and sent to the RSS as his actions align with their agenda. »
The former corporator further accused Patole of undermining his campaign, alleging that bloc presidents who opposed him were nominated and his name was excluded from the main candidate panels. “I participated as if I was independent, despite the Congress symbol. Most of the bloc presidents worked against me, and even during Priyanka Gandhi’s tour, the party organization was lacking,” Shelke asserted.
Shelke also accused Patole of colluding with the BJP, saying key Congress members were instructed to cooperate with the rival party. “This betrayal demoralized the cadres and harmed the party’s chances,” he added.

The notice reads: “On November 28, 2024, a meeting of Congress party assembly candidates was organized at Tilak Bhavan. You were also present in this meeting. After the meeting, while you were speaking to the media in the premises of Tilak Bhavan, you have made false and baseless allegations against the Congress party and Shri Nana Patole, the Hon’ble State President As a result, the reputation of the Congress party and the Hon. Nana Patole has been tarnished.
The letter continues: “Under the instructions of the Maharashtra in-charge, Shri. Ramesh Chennithala and at the suggestion of the Hon’ble State President Shri. Nana Patole, you are informed that your actions constitute a violation of party discipline. provide a written explanation within two (2) days to the State Office explaining why you should not be suspended from the Congress Party for this conduct.
“If no explanation is received within the time limit, it will be deemed that you have no further comments, and disciplinary measure a suspension will be initiated against you. Please take note of this.”
