Why Melvin Craig was chosen to replace Kotb and his salary

Recently announced Melvin Craig is set to follow in Hoda Kotb’s footsteps as the new anchor of NBC’s Today show. He will take over the role of the show’s legendary host immediately after Kotb’s departure on January 10. Although the soon-to-be-departing presenter cannot be replaced and will be truly missed by his colleagues, they are just as excited to have Melvin join them.

Staff reaction to the replacement of Kotb by Melvin

A source revealed to US Weekly: “Craig is so great that people were cheering for him when they got the staff email. He’s the best – everyone is so excited for him. A second source added: “He is truly one of the kindest, most humble and generous people. People are extremely happy for him. The good guy won.

On Friday, November 14, Melvin was officially announced as Kotb’s replacement and new anchor of the Today Show. The first source told the outlet: “Eddie has been stable for 7 years – alongside Savannah and Hoda. It was the right choice, the clear choice, the choice that everyone could support. He is so loved. Melvin was today’s ‘standout’ pick as they went in search of the next presenter.

Laura Jarret was also one of the potential names considered for the role. The insider revealed that the network had to choose one from “a very strong group of people.”

Melvin’s salary and the role of other factors

Many factors played a role in Melvin’s recruitment and the second source revealed that the most important factor was his previous experience. The source told the outlet: “He’s been to the Olympics, he’s done presidential interviews. He covered big stories on the ground.

Additionally, he will join the anchor desk with Savannah Guthrie who happens to be his biggest fan. The source revealed, “They have been working together for 7 years,” adding that they are “good friends” who have “spent time together with their spouse… They have always had a close brother-sister friendship.” Savannah loves Craig and she adores him.

As for Melvin’s salary, the source estimates that he will earn between “$5 and $6 million” from his new job.
