Turkey’s crude steel production rises 0.7 percent annually in October

(MENAFN) In October, Turkish crude steel production increased by 0.7 percent compared to the same month last year, reaching 3 million tonnes, according to the Turkish Steel Producers Association on Friday . In the first ten months of the year, crude steel production jumped 12.4 percent, reaching 30.9 million tonnes, the association said.

Exports of steel products fell by 8.5 percent in quantity in October, to 989,900 tonnes, as well as by 6.2 percent in value, to $728.8 million. Exports increased by 30.7 percent in terms of quantity to 11.2 million tonnes and 18.7 percent in terms of value to reach $8.2 billion in January-October compared to the same period last year.

Imports jumped 39.8 percent in terms of quantity to 1.7 million tonnes and 16.8 percent in terms of value to $1.2 billion in October compared to the same month of the year previous. During this 10-month period, imports decreased by 7.2 percent in terms of quantity to 13.7 million tonnes and by 15.6 percent in terms of value to $10.7 billion compared the same period of 2023. The coverage rate of exports and imports jumped by 54 percent last January. -October to 76 percent during the same period this year.
