Tragedy: Woman found dead in Belfast nightclub as police appeal for information

A WOMAN was found dead in a Belfast nightclub early on Sunday morning.

Police were alerted to the incident at Lux nightclub on Dunbar Street in Belfast city center at around 2.20am.

According to reports, two women lost consciousness.

Emergency services, firefighters and police attended the scene.

Unfortunately, one of the women, aged around 20, was found dead upon arrival.

The other woman was hospitalized for treatment.

PSNI officers have launched an investigation into the incident and are appealing for anyone with information to contact them.

Police said investigations were at a “very early stage”.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a woman in her 20s at a nightclub in Belfast city center in the early hours of this morning, Sunday December 1st.

“Police, firefighters and paramedics were called to the scene at around 2.20am following reports that two women had fallen unconscious.

“Sadly, when emergency services arrived, one of the women had died.

“The other was taken to hospital where she remains under treatment.

“Police investigations are in their early stages and anyone who thinks they may have information that could help them can contact police on 101 or submit information online via http://www.psni.police.uk/makeareport/.”
