THIS is the moment a car crashed into a crowd of students after its driver sparked a massive brawl outside a nightclub.

Mohammed Alam deliberately attacked a group of friends in his Volkswagen Golf, throwing one victim into the air and leaving a deep gash on his leg which required surgery.

The incident was sparked by a large fight outside Rock City nightclub on Talbot Street in Nottingham at around 2.45am on October 7, 2023.

CCTV footage released by police shows the moment Alam, 25, rolled his vehicle onto the pavement, knocking one of the students to the ground.

Police arrested Alam and his elder brother Parvaz, 29, after the latter was involved in the big brawl.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how violence broke out after a partygoer banged on the roof of Alam’s Volkswagen to express his annoyance at the speed at which he was driving.

Alam and Parvaz then left the car with a third person, before starting a fight on the sidewalk during which security guards were forced to intervene.

Alam then returned to his vehicle with his brother before attempting to mow down a group of students involved in a fight on nearby Goldsmith Street.

Mohammed Alam was jailed for two years and 10 months after admitting affray, inflicting grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.

While the majority of young people managed to get out of the way of the car, one of them was hit.

In a victim impact statement, the impaired student told the court: “As a result of my operation I have scars and so now I won’t wear shorts unless I absolutely have to.

“This summer I really only wore shorts in really hot weather. Even when I was only on vacation, I had to make sure that my left leg was not exposed to too much sun because it is very sensitive and I wouldn’t be able to tell that it had burned.

“The hardest thing for me is that it has had an effect on my rugby. Sport is a big part of my life and I play for the Nottingham Trent University team.

“I missed some matches and thought that because of that I might not be able to play again. It was only through my dedication and drive that I made sure that didn’t happen. not taken away from me.

The hit-and-run incident was sparked by a fight on Talbot Street, near the Rock City nightclub.

Alam, of Pembridge Close, Basford, was jailed for two years and 10 months after admitting affray, causing grievous bodily harm and dangerous driving.

His brother Parvaz also pleaded guilty to affray and was given a community order requiring him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work and fined £250.

Detective Constable Madeline Flint-Foster, who led the investigation, said: “Mohammed Alam’s actions that night were extremely reckless and had a profound impact on his victim.

“It was purely by chance that no one was killed. His behavior clearly shows that he poses a risk to the community and I am glad that he is now behind bars.
