HC appoints BAIRA administrator to organize elections

DHAKA, December 02, 2024 (BSS) – The High Court (HC) today ordered to appoint an administrator of the Bangladesh Association of International Recruitment Agencies (BAIRA) and subsequently proceed with the election of its executive committee.

A High Court bench comprising Justices Fahmida Quader and Mubina Asaf passed the order while ruling on two separate petitions filed in this regard.

The court ordered the Commerce Secretary to implement the order within four weeks.

Senior advocates Advocate Jamiruddin Sircar, Advocate Md Ruhul Quddus Kazal argued in favor of BAIRA, while senior advocates Zainul Abdin, Ahsanul Karim, Advocate Mohammad Siddik Ullah Miah and Advocate Abdullah Al Mamun took part in the hearing for BAIRA members.

On November 11, the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court imposed a status quo on BAIRA’s election until November 19. On November 19, the top court extended the status quo until the adoption of a rule issued in this regard.

He also asked the High Court to rule on this rule soon. Pursuant to this order, the High Court delivered its decision today after holding a hearing on two separate grounds and the rule.
