London K-9 finds ‘large quantity’ of meth behind child’s car seat: police

LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — A London man is facing drug charges after he was arrested and found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

According to an arrest report, Kevin Hampton, 50, was arrested at 10:52 p.m. Wednesday in the parking lot of a Motel 6.

London police said K-9 Jack gave a positive signal for possession of narcotics in the vehicle. During a search of the car, police said a “large quantity” of what is believed to be methamphetamine was found hidden in the back of a child’s car seat.

In the citation, police noted that Hampton claimed the meth as his own and was arrested. He was taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center and charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance (methamphetamine)

  • Rear license plate not illuminated

Hampton appeared in court Monday morning, state records show. He is being held at the Laurel County Correctional Facility on $25,000 bail.
