Andy Reid knows exactly what the Kansas City Chiefs’ problem is, he just needs the right solution.

“He played against some good players, but we have to do better than what we did there.”

The Chiefs signed left tackle DJ Humphries last week in another attempt to fix the leaky line.

The former Arizona Cardinal was medically cleared to return to football after tearing his ACL last December.

Reid doesn’t know if Humphries is willing to go against the Los Angeles Chargers in what has suddenly become a big AFC West game on Sunday.

“I don’t think it’s probably fair to DJ right now, just to him coming off this offseason,” he said.

“We’ll work on him and see how he feels. That’s the main thing. He hasn’t played in a while, so I just want to make sure he’s in a good position.

“He made a Good work last week I was working there, and we’ll do a little more with him this week.

“Last week was short, so we didn’t have a lot of time for the quick part of the game, the practices, and so this week I’ll have a better idea as it goes, and he’ll have a better idea of ​​what he’s feeling, then we’ll go from there. We’ll see how it all goes.

“I think we just play it by ear as it goes, and if he feels good, then we give him an opportunity. If it’s not where it needs to be, then you don’t do it , so we’ll just see how it goes.”

That leaves the crucial spot on Mahomes’ blindside up for grabs.

Reid didn’t rule out the possibility of replacing Thuney early on.

“Well, that’s another one of the options we have,” he revealed.

“We finished the game that way. I would prefer Joe to play as goalkeeper because he’s very good there, but Caliendo isn’t bad either, so it’s a good problem to have.

“But we have some flexibility as needed.”
