Judd Trump has revealed that a manic approach to training and turning off his phone has been the key to his recent success as he aims to win all three Triple Crown events in a single season.

Trump won his second crown as UK champion by beating Barry Hawkins in a thrilling final in York on Sunday.

It is the Englishman’s fifth Triple Crown overall and 30th overall title, leaving him behind Ronnie O’Sullivan, Stephen Hendry and John Higgins on the all-time list.

While some players choose their events in hopes of more prestigious victories, Trump insists that every tournament counts.

And his insatiable thirst for success continues on the training table, with the 35-year-old advising younger players to put down their mobile devices in order to achieve lasting success.

“That’s why my record is so good,” Trump told Eurosport. “When they win the Triple Crowns, people tell you they’re targeting them, but no one can target a tournament. You just go out there and play your best at every event. Otherwise, why are you here?

“People say some of the smaller events are easier to win, but it’s the same players playing there. You experience the same emotions, you do your best, it’s not easier to win.

On advice he would give to young people, Trump suggested: “Put down your phone and work hard, I think that’s the main thing.”

“For me there are no weekends, every day is the same for me. I’ve always been like that since I was young and even more so when I became a professional.

“There are no weekends, every day is the same day, every day is Monday for me. I train seven days a week if I can, I would never take a day off by choice, really.

Trump is one of 11 players to complete a career Triple Crown, but only Steve Davis, Hendry and Mark Williams have won the UK Championship, Masters and World Championship in a single season.

It’s a goal that “The Ace in the Pack” says may be within his reach.

“It would be absolutely incredible to win the Masters and the World Championship,” he said. “I don’t see why I can’t. I play pretty well, I’m pretty dedicated and pretty hungry.
