Fire breaks out near New Horizon school building in Airoli after transformer explodes, all students evacuated safely; VIDEO

Navi Mumbai: A fire was reported near New Horizon Public School at Airoli in Navi Mumbai after a transformer exploded. The incident created a panic situation as all the students were present in the school. According to preliminary information, two explosions were heard. Soon all the students were evacuated and the school was closed for afternoon classes.

According to information available at the time of filing this copy, a bird got stuck on the wire, following which the transformer on the road outside the school building exploded, causing a fire. Fortunately, this accident caused no injuries and the situation is under control.

Video of the incident posted online shows students in uniform gathered outside the school grounds, next to school buses. We see some people running in panic. The school has been closed for the day and further investigations are underway.
