Martin Starr Joins Maika Monroe in ‘The Hand That Rocks the Cradle’ Remake (Exclusive)

Martin Starr, currently alongside Sylvester Stallone in King of Tulsajoined the cast of the 20th Century Studios remake The hand that moves the cradle.

Maika Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead headline the thriller that will have Michelle Garza Cervera behind the camera when production begins later this month in Los Angeles. Raúl Castillo is also on the call list.

The feature film project adapts the 1992 thriller originally distributed by Buena Vista Pictures and directed by Curtis Hanson. Rebecca De Mornay starred as a twisted widow who, distraught over the loss of her own baby, insinuates herself into a family as a nanny, with the ultimate goal of taking the children and husband for herself. Annabella Sciorra played the mother.

In the update, Monroe, star of this summer’s horror hit Long legsis the nanny while Winstead is the mother. Castillo is the husband.

Starr will play the family’s neighbor to whom the mother turns for help.

The reimagining was conceived by Cervera and scripted by Micah Bloomberg, who created the Prime Video anthology show. Return home and wrote the thriller Margaret Qualley Sanctuary.

Produce Cradle are Ted Field of Radar Pictures as well as Michael Schaefer and Mike Larocca through their banner, Department M.

Starr is known for his work in Tom Holland Spiderman films and their credits include cult comedies Party And Silicon Valley and movies like Honey, boy And It’s the end. He is repped by IAG, Rise Management and attorney David Krintzman.
