HANOI, Vietnam, December 4, 2024–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Speaking at the recent FPT Techday 2024 event in front of over 600 global business leaders and thousands of technology experts and enthusiasts, Pham Minh Tuan, Executive Vice President of FPT Corporation and CEO of FPT Software, highlighted the critical need to modernize legacy systems, which often form the operational backbone of long-established businesses, and FPT’s commitment to making legacy systems modernization more agile by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI).

According to Tuan, a significant portion of FPT’s more than 1,000 global customers still rely heavily on outdated legacy systems, which require around 500,000 developers to maintain daily. These systems not only require substantial costs, but are also prone to errors, security vulnerabilities and lack of flexibility. Such challenges hamper businesses amid rapid technological advancements and unpredictable market developments. These require a holistic approach to modernization, which FPT addresses with its end-to-end services and solutions.

“Today, FPT provides best-in-class end-to-end service offerings that cover every phase of the existing mainframe lifecycle: from mainframe maintenance to managed services, including application managed services, managed infrastructure, managed cloud services, security, verification. and testing,” Tuan said. He added that FPT also supports upgrading existing systems to enable more efficient modernization.

AI: the solution to the challenges of existing systems

With AI being the key driver of FPT’s strategic direction, the company has integrated the latest AI innovations into the modernization of its global customers. AI enables a comprehensive understanding of these systems through evaluation, reading source codes (code generation), applying redocumentation and restoration engineering, rearchitecting and rewriting, validating and system verification, as well as testing and verification. This ensures that the results of the modernized system remain consistent with those of the existing system. Additionally, AI automates system migration processes, improving efficiency and accuracy.

To drive this transformation, FPT has invested in AI-based tools, such as EMT (Engineering Platform and Modernization Technologies), xMainframe and CodeVista. These technologies allow new team members to quickly become familiar with existing systems and technologies, allowing them to contribute effectively to projects in a short period of time.

Using xMainframe, FPT can reduce project integration time by 30% while maintaining accuracy of up to 90%. Tuan cited an example where data automation through xMainframe went from a monthly cycle to a weekly cycle, significantly improving efficiency.
